Rural Issues on the Agenda

 Tony Rimmer, Director of Rostons, recently attended Cheshire East Rural Summit which was organised by Cheshire East Council to look at the issues affecting rural communities. 

There were a significant number of attendees including local councillors, Cheshire East employees, CLA, NFU and United Utilities representatives but very few from the farming sector.

Septic Tank Consultation – Reform to the Current Rules

It has recently been announced by DEFRA that a consultation has opened for the changes to the regulation of septic tanks.

 The proposals are to remove the requirement for septic tanks and small sewage treatment plants to be registered with the Environment Agency.

European Funding Could Provide Timely Boost for Farmers

Farmers and food producers thinking of investing in their businesses could access discounted borrowing rates from the Agricultural Mortgage Corporation (AMC plc).

 

AMC has negotiated access to a £multi million European Investment Bank (EIB) fund aimed at stimulating investment and job creation in small and medium sized businesses, including those in farming. This means that loans for eligible projects can be discounted by 0.8% below normal rates for 10 years.
