Welsh Government Second Consultation – ‘Sustainable Farming and our Land’
The Welsh Government have recently brought out a second consultation following last year’s ‘Brexit and our land’ consultation. This consultation is the second round following the 12,000 odd responses the first consultation received. The consultation sets out the governments vision of how they see agricultural support in Wales after Brexit.

HS2 Phase 2B Update
On the 6th June 2019, HS2 announced a number of significant alterations in relation to amending the design as well as further safeguarding of land in relation to HS2 Phase 2B.

It has been 18 months since the introduction of the Electronic Communications Code 2017 which has seen rents offered for the renewal of site leases slashed by around 90%, with both site providers and network operators at loggerheads.
New Subsidy Regime for Wales
The Welsh agricultural sector has been waiting anxiously since last year for the announcement of the results of the ‘Brexit and our Land’ consultation paper. It has been recently announced by Lesley Griffiths, the Welsh Agricultural Secretary, that the two elements of post Brexit financial support put forward in the consultation paper will now be merged into one scheme.
HS2 Phase 2B Ground Investigation Survey Update
Further to HS2 issuing Ground Investigation Survey Licences to land owners and occupiers during the Summer of 2018, entry is now being scheduled to take place from June 2019 for a period of 9 weeks. This will be to carry out Non-Intrusive Surveys carried out mainly on foot or occasionally by using a small vehicle or 4×4 to carry equipment, it will not involve any excavations at this stage.
Tenancy Reform Proposed
All Landlords and Tenants are urged by Tony Rimmer, Director of Rostons, to review the Government Consultation Paper relating to proposed changes to current Tenancy Legislation.
HS2 Phase 2B Update
The design and development of HS2 Phase 2B is continuing with refinements including alignments and land take still being worked upon, particularly where significant changes to existing infrastructure will occur such as road and utility diversions. These up to date designs are expected to be released in the summer of 2019 although this may be delayed.
