With the latest round of Single Farm Payment forms just completed, Rostons Director Tony Rimmer is concerned that many farmers have failed to grasp the important changes that will arise from the 2015 Basic Payment Scheme.
With many farmers beginning to plan how they will deal with the Greening issues and the associated Ecological Focus Areas and Crop Diversification it’s clear that greater understanding and professional advice is needed.
Cheshire West & Chester Council has opened up a second call for sites to be added to their Local Plan and to be put forward to the Council’s Strategic Housing Land Availability Assessment.
If you have any land which you believe is ripe for development, or borders housing within a village or town, you should submit details to the Council in the appropriate format prior to the 19th June 2014.
While not normally ones for grand celebrations, Rostons directors Ros and Tony Rimmer are making an exception this year to mark their 10th anniversary of running their own business.
The husband-and-wife team initially operated as Carver Knowles (NW) Limited before becoming Rostons.

The number of enquiries about biomass boilers received by Rostons is continuing to climb because farmers are looking to take advantage of the Governments Renewable Heat Incentive and make savings on heating costs for cottages, grain drying or kiln drying to name a few.
European Investment Bank Funding, which means farmers can receive discounted margins on certain farm investment projects, is still available. Recently, Tony Rimmer Director of Rostons, attended a dinner hosted by Lloyds Bank with their ambassador, Adam Henson.
The guests at the dinner were professionals from the agricultural industry including Chartered Surveyors and Agricultural Valuers, Accountants, Solicitors, all drawn from Cheshire and Shropshire.
Adam posed the question, “what made those successful clients successful” and the interesting points that came out of the discussion was they all had similar traits,
Tony Rimmer, Director of Rostons, recently attended Cheshire East Rural Summit which was organised by Cheshire East Council to look at the issues affecting rural communities.
There were a significant number of attendees including local councillors, Cheshire East employees, CLA, NFU and United Utilities representatives but very few from the farming sector.
It has recently been announced by DEFRA that a consultation has opened for the changes to the regulation of septic tanks.
The proposals are to remove the requirement for septic tanks and small sewage treatment plants to be registered with the Environment Agency.
