On 02 April 1984 milk quotas were first introduced, their purpose was to bring rising milk production under control. They were introduced under the now Common Agricultural Policy and originally were only set to run for five years, and were eventually abolished in March 2015.

Rostons Entitlement Trading
The trade has kicked off at Rostons with English non SDA entitlements trading anywhere between £190 – £200 per hectare plus VAT. With this in mind any clients you have that are looking to buy or sell, we would recommend that they contact us as soon as possible to secure any sales.
HS2 Phase 2A Update – Further consultations are announced
HS2 has launched two consultations as part of preparations for phase 2A.
The consultations that have opened are the Environmental Impact Assessment (EIA) and Equality Impact Assessment (EQIA). Both consultations will look to seek the views of statutory and expert bodies on the scope, methodology and overall reporting of the EIA and EQIA.
Brexit – What don’t we know?
Many questions have arisen in the Rostons office as to the result of “Brexit” and implications for UK Agriculture. There are a large number of unknowns which are yet to be identified and many agricultural economists are highlighting a lot of the uncertainties in the media.
Blight: What does it mean and how does it work?
There are number of major infrastructure schemes under construction and planned in the northwest including the A556 bypass, Congleton Link Road and HS2. When schemes of this scale are proposed, the word ‘Blight’ is mentioned far more frequently.
