Welsh Basic Payment Scheme

Lesley Griffiths, The Cabinet Secretary for Rural Affairs has announced that the Basic Payment Scheme in Wales will remain unchanged in 2020. This will help farmers during the transition period to the new Land Management Scheme.

Over 85% of farmers should receive their 2018 payment on Monday 3rd December, this equates to around £181,000,000.

Speaking at the Winter Fair, the Cabinet Secretary reminded farmers to apply for the loan scheme currently being offered by the Welsh Government by the 30th November. This loan will be a 70% of your estimated payment that will be paid on the week of the 3rd December. The amount will then be deducted when the actual payment is made, and the farmers will be paid the 30% outstanding.

All farmers who are not likely to be paid on the 3rd December should have been contacted by the Welsh Government such that they can have time to apply for the loan.

If you wish to apply for the loan and would like some assistance, please do not hesitate to contact Hywel Davies at Rostons on 01829 773000
