New Countryside Productivity Small Grant Scheme Announced

On the 6th February 2018 a new small grant scheme was announced by the Farming Minister. This recent grant opportunity is intended to support investments in specific agricultural equipment. The online application is now live and will close in just over a month’s time on the 14th March 2018.

Livestock, dairy, sheep and arable farmers in England are able to apply for a minimum of £3,000 up to a maximum of £12,000. The grant can cover up to 40% of the eligible costs of certain equipment. The list of equipment covered by this grant is available in the Small Grant Scheme Handbook published by DEFRA.

For each item of equipment there is a minimum specification and standard cost which is the maximum price that a grant will be paid towards. This is a competitive grant process and applications will be assessed and scored based on the extent to which they improve technical efficiency, animal health and welfare, health and safety and resource efficiency.
