Having recently attended a LEADER masterclass run by Cheshire West & Chester and Cheshire East Council, the LEADER project is certainly open for business and some applications have already been submitted.
The LEADER project aims to support farming, forestry and rural businesses by offering up to 40% funding, for eligible projects over £2,500.
All projects must meet at least one of the priorities, which are as follows:
- Increasing farm productivity
- Micro/small business enterprise and farm diversification
- Rural tourism
- Rural services
- Culture and heritage
- Increasing forestry production
Any application must also contribute to jobs and growth and also align with the Local Development Strategy (LDS).
Carys Studley of Rostons comments “the two stage application is now open, firstly starting with an outline application and should it be eligible, applicants then are invited to supply a full application.” The LEADER team are looking to progress any applications to finishing point as quickly as they can.
If you have any ideas for a farm diversification or productivity and believe it may fit within the remits of the scheme, please do contact a member of the team.
