It has been announced by the Environment Secretary that the new Payment by Results (PBR) Project will be the first Agri-Environment Scheme directly funded by the UK.
A £540,000 boost was announced which will pay farmers according to the environmental outcomes they achieve over the next 2 years.
Currently, the project is paying participating farmers only in 2 areas, Norfolk and Suffolk in the east of England and Wensleydale in Yorkshire. Carys Studley of Rostons comments that “whilst locally, this particular scheme is not applicable to clients that we work for, this a sign that there are plans to move towards a system where farmers are paid according to the public goods they provide and the basis of future farming policy as we leave the European Union”.
Rostons are committed to providing as much information to their clients as quickly as possible and therefore, if you would like to be added to the Rostons Farming Focus Newsletter, please do let a member of the Team know.
