FARMING & FORESTRY IMPROVEMENT SCHEME (FFIS)

Funding is now available for capital projects which aim to improve competitiveness via investment in: nutrient management, energy efficiency, water resource management or animal

Funding rates are 40% of capital costs in non-upland areas and 50% in upland areas with a minimum grant of £2,500 and a maximum of £25,000.

Examples of eligible items include: GPS equipment, rainwater harvesting equipment including storage tanks, pumps and pipe work, dribble bars, trailing shoe systems, roofing of middens and silage pits (upland areas only unless part of a larger rainwater harvesting project), grooving of parlours and collecting yards and cluster flushing systems.

Sam Starkey of Rostons feels many potential applicants may miss out due to the short timescale that is available for applications.

Applicants have until 17th January 2012 to apply and will need to provide 2 years trading accounts, three quotes for the item and copies of any relevant planning permissions.

The current proposal is that the scheme will operate every 4 months until the end of 2013.  It is worth noting that there is no guarantee of claiming the grant funding, not all projects that are eligible will be awarded grant funding.

If you require further advice please contact Sam Starkey if you would like further advice and require Rostons to submit an application for you.
